News for bunk beds and high beds

Since last March 13th, CEN has made available the new versions of EN 747, part 1 and part 2.
These new documents have replaced the previous ones, which were published in 2012, with amendments in 2015.

Some Countries have already implemented this new standard, divided in two parts. The first part contains the safety requirements and the second one the test methods.
The major changes introduced concern the addition of safety requirements and test methods for verifying the strength of platforms and stairs, present in many products introduced on the market in recent years.
The scope remains unchanged: these requirements and test methods apply to bunk beds and high beds (having a mattress base 600 mm or more from the floor) for domestic and non-domestic use.

CATAS participated in the standardization meetings for the changes to these documents and has already requested to update the list of accredited standards.
